Babysitting options in Siem Reap – Travelling with Kids – Family Travel Blog

We’ve all heard the term ‘templed out’ generally a topic of conversation for those travelling to Siem Reap with kids. I’ve had a couple of people ask me if I made any arrangements for babysitting options in Siem Reap. Fortunately I didn’t have any issues and the kids enjoyed the temples although we were able to space it out as we were staying in town  for 7 days.

You’re also welcome to join my South East Asia Travel Planning Facebook group – it’s a great resource for all things travel in SE Asia!

I recently had one of my readers email me asking for childcare options which I was unable to share. She did however find some elsewhere and kindly shared them with me so that I could share them with all of you! Thank you to my Instagram friend @alisondowns24, I’m sure many people will benefit from this information from Tree House Nursery & Cafe.

Angkor Wat

Alison’s comments about her experience:

‘This place is run by a British couple. Originally, they were just looking for a western nursery option for their own children when they moved from Bangkok to Siem Reap 4 years ago. As you could imagine, there was nothing really available. Thus, they decided to open one for their children and the expats who live around Siem Reap. The campus is HUGE and CLEAN. They have about 20 kids ageing from a couple of months olds to 5 yrs olds. All the teachers are all certified.

We sent our boys (almost 4 years old and almost 2 years old) to their nursery one day (we wanted to explore Angkor Wat more and get some “down time”). Boys absolutely LOVED it. They even asked to come back there the next day.  As for the babysitter, she is also a teacher from that school. We had her come to our hotel to babysit one evening. And that worked out quite well in our case’.

Babysitting options in Siem Reap

I think this would a brilliant if your kids are young and you wanted to go out and see the sunrise, you could ask them to start early and therefore not have to wake the kids.  It’s also a great opportunity to go out for dinner one night and not have to worry about getting home in time for the kids to go to bed. I’m sure many of you will be able to utilise this service.

Pricing

Alison has kindly shared her invoicing for us and she even grabbed a price list.

Price list as of January 2017

All prices list above are in US dollars. I think for the service provided these prices are fairly reasonable. Note that the service is available 24/7, 7 days a week, $5 per hour for babysitting is a bargain. Alison provided an invoice for her kids which was a total of $64USD for a full day including lunch which is provided.

Verdict

Thanks Alison, this is going to be really helpful for many people, it’s very difficult to know where to find a reliable service we you are new to a place. It will be reassuring knowing that this service comes highly recommended.

While in Siem Reap we chose to stay at the Prince D’Angkor Hotel and we loved it. The staff were friendly towards the kids and we got a free room upgrade when there was an issue with our bathroom. We also had the most amazing tuk-tuk driver, Sok our tuk-tuk driver was brilliant and I can’t recommend him more highly.

There are a number of family friendly activities to keep the kids entertained in Siem Reap, our favourites were:

Ziplining at Angkor – imagine zip lining through the Angkor Archaeological Park, flying through the trees like a bird, you can actually do that and the kids will love it.

Phare Cambodian Circus consists of Cambodian youth that will tell the story of Cambodia seen through their own eyes using dance and acrobats.

Visiting Angkor Wat with kids, no visit to Siem reap is complete without visiting Angkor Wat, my post will give you tips for keeping the kids entertained and happy.

If that’s not enough, my top 7 things to do in Siem Reap with kids has a few extra ideas for entertaining the kids.
