For something a little different this week, I have my first guest post from another blogger! This article was written by Rosemary McGuigan, the owner and operator of Best Of The Kimberley, the holiday and tour planning specialists in Broome, Western Australia. Rosemary helps many holiday goers year after year plan tours in Kununurra & the Bungle Bungle Ranges – there is so much to see in this stunning part of Australia that you’ll want to go back every year! Craig and I have some friends that recently relocated…

Over the June school holidays we took the Spirit of Tasmania for a quick winter break. The ship docked at 6am and we were off soon after 6.30am, read about our experience here. We arrived on the Friday morning and we had a house booked through Stayz for two nights over the weekend in Launceston. Craig was flying in that evening as he had work commitments and could only get away for the weekend.

During early February the Spirit Of Tasmania was advertising a ‘kids sail free’ promotion for sailing between Melbourne and Devonport on certain dates over winter. Being the avid traveller I am, I had to check it out as it seemed too good to be true.

Over the Easter long weekend we finally visited Cape Conran in East Gippsland. I say finally because my friend has been going there for 14 years and has asked me pretty much every year to come along but for various reasons we just haven’t gotten around to going. What a mistake, big mistake!

On the March Labour Day long weekend, Craig and I took the kids for a short 4 day break to Airlie Beach. While we were up there I wanted to take the kids to Whitehaven Beach. Nearly 30 years ago I promised someone  very special who has since passed away that I would get there one day and now I have done it with my family. It was very special and more than just a tick off my bucket list.

At the start of this month I had a friend and her 2 kids aged 20 and 15, come to stay with us from Sydney. I cant believe that non of them had never been to Melbourne before. This of course, put me in my element, tour guide for the day in my home town. Melbourne is an awesome city but unfortunately I only had one day to sell it to them!

A few months back I was lucky enough to win a competition in Australian Traveller Magazine and the prize was a Balloon Aloft voucher for a hot air balloon ride for 2 people. Balloon Aloft fly in 4 different locations in New South Wales and for various reasons we chose Camden, located south west of Sydney and where a good friend of mine lives.

Yesterday my family and I took my sister and her husband on a winery tour on the Bellarine Peninsula, about 30mins from Geelong, Victoria’s second biggest city and the gateway to the popular Great Ocean Road.

It’s school holidays here in Australia and Craig doesn’t have much leave from work as I seem to spend it before we get it! A friend invited me to Mt Baw Baw for a night so I thought it would be nice for myself and the kids to join her.

Over the Christmas/ New Year break we went on a camping trip to the Big 4 Taggerty Holiday Park with the kids. I had researched a heap of things to keep the kids busy and entertained but in the end we did very few of them but still found plenty to do in the area and also plenty of other things that we didn’t get around to doing. Here’s my review of the Big 4 Taggerty Holiday Park. We love camping, its great for the kids and it saves us money that we can…
