A guide to the best Bali Villas

Bali has been near the top of my bucket list for a little while now, somehow it just keeps getting bumped down for various reasons and we are yet to visit. Indonesia didn’t have a great 2018, there were many natural disasters but luckily Bali was spared from any major drama. While that might seem like a reason not to go to Indonesia, that’s very sad for the local economy that relies on the tourist dollar to survive. I have compiled this list to help you choose the best Bali villas for your family covering Bali’s most popular locations.

I often joke that I must be the only person in Australia that hasn’t been to Bali, particularly given we travel a lot as a family. I would also be keen to visit Yogyakarta as there is plenty there I would love to see. Travelling as a family of 5 is expensive and challenging accommodation wise as most hotel rooms cater for the standard nuclear family of 2 adults and 2 kids. This has made me think outside the square a little more when researching family vacations for us.

PINPOST

The rise in popularity of Bali villas is no surprise, they are available in various locations across Bali and are a much more affordable option for larger families but even for couples that might not like hotels and resorts that might be full of kids. Most and definitely the best Bali villas have their own plunge pools, living/common areas, up to 5 bedrooms catering for 10 or more people and many have their own private butlers. Perfect for a multigenerational getaway for the whole family. What’s not to love right.

There are so many great guides to Bali, you need to decide which area best suits you or you could decide to visit a few if you are having a longer stay in Bali.

Best Bali villas for families

I have decided to outline the best Bali villas for larger families as that’s what is relevant to me, I have provided 2 options in each area and 1 option further below for couples. I have broken it down into various areas of Bali as Bali is more than just Kuta these days and to be fair, who wants to go to Bali and stay in Kuta anyway! That’s not my idea of fun and definitely isn’t showcasing the best of what Bali has to offer.

Why you should choose a Bali Villa for families or couples!

This is only a small selection of many Bali villas available for rent. I stuck to a similar price range of between approximately AU$200-$450 per night. The price does vary depending on the season with prices doubling on most villas over the Australian school holiday dates.

There were many that were much more luxurious than the ones I have listed, these also had luxurious price tags with some costing over AU$1000 per night. I chose not to include them as I don’t think that would be achievable for the average Australian family. I do want you to know that they are available if that kind of thing floats your boat.

There were also other villas that could accommodate many more people, for example one had 14 rooms. So if you are a bigger group, this website can also accommodate you in much bigger villas. The larger villas were pretty reasonable priced, particularly if you were splitting the cost between 4 or 5 families.

I love that this group has villas all over the island, so they will likely be able to satisfy what ever area interests you and your family. It would also be possible to move to one or more areas by booking a few nights at each to suit your itinerary. Transportation is easily organised to wherever you want to go by asking you local staff member.

I really think this is a very flexible way to holiday, it will ensure you don’t end up with a huge resort food bill either as having a villa encourages you to get out a bit or order take out to the villa.

I also feel that having a villa will decrease your chance of contracting Bali belly as there aren’t a huge amount of people in and out of the pool each day and putting dirty little hands in food at the buffet. We all know someone who has had Bali belly!

I will definitely be looking to go down the path of one those popular Bali villas when we finally decide to take the plunge and head to Indonesia. I think it will be sooner rather than later. Have you been to Bali? Did you hire a Bali villa you would like to recommend? Leave your recommendation in the comments below.

Safe travels.
