Australian family travelling around the world
Hello, We're Sally and Craig
and this is our story
Before we met and got married, both of us spent time in the UK separately. As many Aussies do, I (Sally) did the working holiday rite of passage back in 1994. I traveled solo and met some of the most amazing friends along the way. Many that I still keep in contact with now.
Craig missed the age range by a whisker for the working holiday option, so he went to the UK in 1997 and stayed for three months. Or until his money ran out, which was quick in those days.

In 2003, we honeymooned in Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore. Right while we were in the process of planning our next trip to South America, I fell pregnant with Alannah. That was the end of our travel adventures for a while.
In the last couple of years, we have done a lot of camping around Australia. I even posted a few blogs on some of these trips. From Eden, to go whale watching, to our Christmas get away, a camping trip to QLD to visit the theme parks. Not to mention a Melbourne Cup weekend trip all complete with a hospital visit for Caelan, resulting in 7 stitches in his chin! I wont forget that trip in a hurry. That was the second camping trip that has resulted in a hospital visit. Things don’t always go to plan when you have three kids.
In 2012, we took the kids to New Zealand and had an amazing time. We stayed with friends I’ve met back when I was travelling in 1994. Our journey included a road trip from Christchurch to Wanaka, fitting in a day trip to Queenstown and Milford Sound. Both Craig and I had been there separately. Craig on a ski trip before meeting me, while I took our second child, Keira, over in 2009. My biggest learning curve from that trip was to take spare clothes on the plane. We had a messy accident after checking our luggage in.
The year 2012 was also amazing because I visited Honk Kong while on girls’ trip with my mum and sister. I loved Honk Kong so much that I decided to take the family on a trip there. That was rather easy, especially since the kids were a bit older, so we knew it was time to start new adventures.
So, in October 2014, we headed to Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Borneo. I was especially excited about taking the kids to Hong Kong Disneyland. Of course, a snappy visit to Macau as well. A stop over in Kuala Lumpur were we took in all the sights, and then on to Borneo and a visit to Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre to see the orangutans. While in Borneo, I celebrated a big birthday (no further details on that!)

2015 was just as fun. We took the kids for their first snorkelling holiday at Airlie Beach for the March long weekend. I was so proud of how they had a red hot go at it and achieved. That was also the year when we purchased a camper trailer, so we’ve been enjoying regular weekend-camping trips ever since. The kids and I are went to Tassie in July as Craig didn’t have enough leave to join us. So, I went alone for the first time. The kids were excited about going over on the Spirit of Tasmania. We also snagged a great deal and went back to Vietnam in September, which was the first time in 11 years. Only this time, we had our kids with us.
So, come with us on our journey.
Our mission is to travel more and show our kids how amazing travelling is.
When the adventures are on hold, we will share with you all the tips and tricks we’ve discovered while trying to find the best deals for our family of 5.
We want to hear your travel stories and experience as well. And if you have any questions, we’ll be more than happy to answer.
Thanks for visiting our site.
Love,
Sally & Craig
