Kyoto – 1 Day Itinerary – Travelling with Kids – Family Travel Blog

If you are going to visit Kyoto, firstly I suggest that you don’t do what I did and try to see it all in one day. Kyoto is the cultural centre of Japan and the spot that the Japanese visit on their holidays to experience to learn the traditions and history of old Japan. Here’s my one day Kyoto itinerary for those that only have a short amount of time in possibly the best city in Japan! (more…)

Taking Kids to Hiroshima, Japan – Traveling with Kids – Family Travel Blog

I have to be honest, I never even considered not taking Alannah to Hiroshima on our recent visit to Japan. Since then a lot of people have actually queried whether I took her or not making me start to wonder why I never gave it a second thought. I even had an older American lady approach me at Hiroshima and thank me for taking her. She said it is something all children can learn from. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial is one of the best attractions in Hiroshima and must not be missed. (more…)

Dinner with a Maiko in Kyoto, Japan – Travelling with Kids – Family Travel Blog

I had always considered Japan to be too expensive for a family of 5 so when the prospect of a girls trip was floated I knew I had to convince the others that Japan was the perfect spot. Luckily it didn’t take too much convincing. First thing on my bucket list for Japan ia a Kyoto Geisha experience. (more…)

Hotel Review – Ritz Carlton Osaka, Japan – Travelling with Kids – Family Travel Blog

After 2 red eye flights in a row, we arrived in Osaka at 8:30 in the morning. After organising our rail passes for our Japan adventure we jumped on the train to Osaka Station and then had a 10 minute walk to the hotel. Choosing some where to stay in Osaka was difficult although the Ritz Carlton Osaka’s close proximity to Osaka Station was very handy.

Review – Shangri La Kowloon – Hong Kong – Family Travel Blog

I love Hong Kong, its a big statement and one I tend to bang out regularly as I seem to find great things about every place I go to. I haven’t found a place yet that I haven’t liked. The first time I went to Hong Kong was on a girls trip in 2013 with my mum and my sister. The best thing (and possibly the worst) it started my love affair with all things Shangri La. The Shangri La Kowloon is by far one of the best hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong. (more…)

When we were on holiday in Hong Kong, we took a day trip to Macau. Its the second time I have been to Macau and I must admit I love it. We had a private driver for the day, the same fella we had last year. If you are looking for a private driver I can highly recommend ours, contact me via email or in the comments below and I will contact you with his details. This trip was a little different as we had the kids with us this time. Craig had his heart set on doing the Macau Bungy Jump from Macau Tower….

Review – Airbnb Apartment, Granville Rd, TST – Hong Kong – Family travel blog

In 2014 we took a family holiday to Hong Kong to take our 3 kids aged 5, 7 & 9 to Disneyland. We struggle to find reasonably priced accommodation due to the fact that we need 2 rooms as hotels rarely accommodate 5 in one room. This means that we also have to pay 2 full room rates. This means that a 2 week holiday would cost the same as a 4 week holiday for those with only 2 kids. A friend at work suggested we used AirBNB Hong Kong to help us cut down the costs of accommodation. I’m so glad I did!

Disneyland or Ocean Park – which is better?

Hong Kong Disneyland or Ocean Park, which is best suited for your child. This is the questions many of you will want answered and is the question I was asking myself before I went to Hong Kong. Which would be better suited for my kids, their age group, their heights. Here’s my opinion after visiting both in 2014 with our 3 kids aged 9, 7 & 5. I have also written more detailed post on Hong Kong Disneyland and on Hong Kong Ocean Park .
