Wow, so its Christmas week already, it feels like yesterday I was excited about heading off to Cambodia at the end of July. We have had so many amazing experiences this year and it’s going to be hard to top in 2017 but I’ll give it a red hot crack! I had put off travelling to Cambodia for a long time as I thought the kids were to young. The opportunity came up earlier this year to visit Siem Reap and I decided to grab it with both hands and make the most of it. I still had my reservations but turns out I need not have worried at all. Siem Reap is family friendly and a great place to visit with plenty of things for the kids to do. Phare, The Cambodian Circus originated in Battambang but now has a permanent home in Siem Reap. It’s the Cambodian equivalent of the world famous Cirque du Soleil. The purpose built tent is located on the outskirts of Siem Reap and all participants have trained at the Phare Ponleu Selpak. (more…)
There’s an abundance of hotels to choose when deciding where to stay in Siem Reap. There is accommodation types that will suit all budgets. I spent a lot of time researching and believe that I found the best place to stay in Siem Reap!
Visiting Angkor Wat has always been at the top of my bucket list, in particular an Angkor Wat sunrise! I just hadn’t thought that it would be a suitable place for little kids. My kids are a little older now at 11, 9 and 7 so we decided that now would be a good time. Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples are located close to Siem Reap in Cambodia. (more…)
When I made the decision to go to Cambodia, I had a good 8 months to start researching what we would do and how we would go about it. I have always wanted to visit the temples around Siem Reap but didn’t know how to organise it for a family of 5. I started by researching other travel blogs, for the most up to date information. Flight of the Gibbon (now known as Angkor Zipline) is the only zip lining Siem Reap. It is located within the Angkor Archeological Park, the home of 1000 year old ruins of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and many other famous temples. (more…)
