Brisbane River Cruise – Family Travel Blog – Travelling with kids

On our recent trip to Queensland, we flew in and out of Brisbane, reason being that we got cheap flights with Jetstar. Upon arrival we hired a car and headed straight down to Surfers Paradise where we had decided a spend a few days. On the way back we had a spare day to spend in Brisbane, so we headed into Southbank and took a Brisbane River Cruise before heading out to the airport. (more…)

Which is the best theme park in Queensland? – Family Travel Blog – Travelling with Kids

This month we visited Queensland for a snappy 5 day break. We had told the kids that we wouldn’t be doing the theme parks this time as we had only visited some of the theme parks a couple of years ago. The theme parks are very expensive for a family of 5 but there are a few options to get around that and to find some good Gold Coast theme park deals. As we had recently visited SeaWorld, MovieWorld and Wet’N’Wild, the kids were keen to visit Dreamworld.  (more…)

Snorkelling Tangalooma Wrecks – Moreton Island, Queensland

On our recent trip to Queensland’s Gold Coast we decided to do something different and give the theme parks a miss. We have done them every couple of years and the last time we went was only 2 years ago in 2014. We took the kids snorkelling at Whitehaven Beach this time last year so I thought we would go snorkelling again, this time off Moreton Island at the Tangalooma Wrecks. (more…)

Queensland Theme Parks with Kids – Family Travel Blog

Over the years while the kids were young, we have gone to Queensland on a few occasions to visit the theme parks. Depending what age the kids are at the time, depends on which parks we visit. Most recently we visited SeaWorld, Wet’n’Wild and Movieworld on a VIP 3 park super pass. We even managed to get a special price of buy 3 get one pass free which saved us $89. Its definitely one of the better Gold Coast theme park packages.  (more…)

Hydeaway Bay – Monte’s Restaurant – Family Travel Blog – Travelling with Kids

Each afternoon Craig and I would go to the Shed Bar at Nomad’s Backpackers for happy hour between 4pm-5pm and the kids would have a play on the grass in front of the pool. Each afternoon the same barman was working, a backpacker from the UK. He asked what we had planned for our final day in Airlie Beach and at that stage we had nothing planned.  He gave a great spot to visit to kill the day, lunch at Hydeaway Bay. (more…)
