We took a short break to Queensland for 5 days, it was supposed to be over our March long weekend as the kids get the Thursday and Friday off school as well as the Monday public holiday. I booked the flights last May but unfortunately I somehow managed to book the wrong weekend! Last year we visited Airlie Beach and this year was Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. Having a family of 5, we now need a find reasonably priced holiday apartments Gold Coast location and the Mantra Sun City Hotel fit the description perfectly. (more…)

The Adventure Travel Film Festival

On the weekend I attended the Adventure Travel Film Festival held in Bright, Victoria every February. This was the first time I’d attended the festival and honestly the main draw card for me was Tony Wheeler, the founder of Lonely Planet, who was presenting early on Saturday morning. (more…)

For the second time in 12 weeks, we decided to park our camper trailer at Porepunkah, approximately 6kms from Bright in the Victorian high country. Bright is one of my favourite towns in Victoria as its such a pretty place, this time of year though its very busy. Porepunkah is my favourite place to go camping near Bright, just far enough away from the craziness but easy to still get in to town. (more…)

During our recent trip to Vietnam, we needed a find a Ho Chi Minh airport hotel as we had a late flight in and then a flight out the next morning and I didn’t see the point in going right in to town. The kids had been on the road for close to 19 hours when we arrived in Vietnam. (more…)

Recently we returned from our holiday to Vietnam with the kids. Craig and I went to Vietnam in 2003 for our honeymoon but it was the first trip for the kids. I knew we would be out and about while staying in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) so didn’t see the need to pay for a 5* hotel like we had in Nha Trang at the An Lam Resort. I think Signature Saigon Hotel is the best place to stay in Ho Chi Minh City and here’s way. (more…)

We recently travelled to Nha Trang, Vietnam and had the opportunity to to be guests of the Evason Ana Mandara Resort. Evason Ana Mandara belongs to the Six Senses Group is the only resort located on the Nha Trang foreshore with absolute beach front access and has been a favourite for visitors to Nha Trang since its establishment 18 years ago. Hotel Review – An Lam Resort, Ninh Van Bay, Vietnam

For the last two nights we had the opportunity to stay at one of the most amazing 5* resorts located on the Vietnamese coast. An Lam Resort is located close to Nha Trang on beautiful Ninh Van Bay. The first thing you will notice is that Ninh Van Bay is so much more beautiful than any Nha Trang beach! It’s by far one of the best Vietnam resorts. (more…)

For our last night in Tassie I decided we needed a change of scenery and it was perfect timing considering I wasn’t too happy with the Tamar Valley Resort. I had read a review about the Beauty Point Riviera Hotel and as I had planned to visit Seahorse World and Platypus House, it was the perfect place for the night. Beauty Point Tasmania is a sleepy little seaside town, much like the Great ocean Road towns use to be like. (more…)

Grindelwald Tasmania is a small village about 15 minutes drive from Launceston or approx 17kms. The village is a replica of a small Swiss village. The homes look like what you would expect in Switzerland. The actual resort itself is also based on a Swiss village along with the little shopping chalets and restaurant. We were booked to stay there for 3 nights. (more…)
