Our review of Swamp Cottage, Launceston – Family Travel Blog

Over the June school holidays we took the Spirit of Tasmania for a quick winter break. The ship docked at 6am and we were off soon after 6.30am. Finding suitable family accommodation Launceston was relatively easy. We arrived on the Friday morning and we had a house booked through Stayz for two nights over the weekend in Launceston. Craig was flying in that evening as he had work commitments and could only get away for the weekend. (more…)

Our trip on Spirit of Tasmania with Kids – Family Travel Blog

During early February the Spirit Of Tasmania was advertising a ‘kids sail free’ promotion for the ferry to Tasmania from Melbourne on certain dates over winter. Being the avid traveller I am, I had to check it out as it seemed too good to be true. (more…)

Review – Shangri La Kowloon – Hong Kong – Family Travel Blog

I love Hong Kong, its a big statement and one I tend to bang out regularly as I seem to find great things about every place I go to. I haven’t found a place yet that I haven’t liked. The first time I went to Hong Kong was on a girls trip in 2013 with my mum and my sister. The best thing (and possibly the worst) it started my love affair with all things Shangri La. The Shangri La Kowloon is by far one of the best hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong. (more…)

Over Easter we embarked on a road trip to southern New South Wales to pick up the camper trailer we purchased online. We left on Thursday afternoon and drove 6 hours to Orbost. Finding suitable Orbost accommodation wasn’t that much of a struggle.  (more…)

The Cinderella Premiere – Sydney State Theatre – Family Travel Blog – Traveling with Kids

Last weekend Keira and I flew up to Sydney to visit her friend Bella. We do this regularly as Bella is Keira’s best friend from when we lived in Sydney, kinda strange as they’re only 7 but they are like 2 old women and love each others company like no other. Helps that I kinda like Bella’s mum Venessa. (more…)

On the March long weekend we took a short 4 day break to what is regularly voted Australia’s most photographed beach – Whitehaven Beach, in what we call Far North Queensland. I’m glad to say it certainly didn’t disappoint. (more…)

Touring the Whitsunday with Ocean Rafting – Family Travel Blog – Travelling with kids

On the March Labour Day long weekend, Craig and I took the kids for a short 4 day break to Airlie Beach. There are so many things to do at Airlie Beach but I was certain of one, I wanted to take the kids to Whitehaven Beach. Nearly 30 years ago I promised someone  very special who has since passed away that I would get there one day and now I have done it with my family. It was very special and more than just a tick off my bucket list. (more…)

Nomad’s Airlie Beach Backpackers – Family Travel Blog – Travelling with Kids

We recently spent 3 days at Airlie Beach in Tropical North Queensland, gateway to the Whitsundays. On this occasion we didn’t have to take the kids out of school because they have curriculum days on the Thursday and Friday before our Labour Day long weekend. While I can imagine its difficult for some, its actually pretty good for me! To save some money we decided to stay at Nomads Airlie Beach, its in a great location and very economical price wise.  (more…)

Foo Fighters Concert & Holiday Inn Hotel Melbourne – Travel Blog

Last weekend Craig and I joined 70,000 others at Etihad Stadium for the Foo Fighters concert here in Melbourne.  We’d palmed the kids off for the night so we thought we’d make a night of it and book a hotel in town. The Holiday Inn Hotel Melbourne is in a great location on Spencer St and a short walk to the stadium for the concert.  (more…)

My review – Drummoyne Serviced Apartment, Sydney – Affordable accommodation

Over the Australia Day long weekend, we took a family trip to Sydney to visit friends we made when we lived up there. It’s been over 2 years since we returned home to Melbourne and we thought it would be nice for the kids to go back to Sydney and see the old house and school and especially friends. Craig and I also went on a hot air balloon ride with Balloons Aloft. Choosing where to stay in Sydney is always a big task! (more…)
