Vaccinations – The ugly side of travel – Travelling with Kids

Last night you might have seen my post on Instagram about having the kids vaccinated for our upcoming trip to Vietnam. It wasn’t fun, so I thought I would provide some tips about what I learnt last night. Australians are advised to have a number of vaccinations for Vietnam but ultimately its up to the individual. We prefer to be play it safe when it comes to the kids and get the advised vaccinations. (more…)

Hiring Bikes on Rottnest Island with Kids – Family Travel Blog

We went to Perth for the weekend to visit family and while we were there we took the Rottnest Island ferry with the kids to spend the day on  Rottnest Island. Perth really put on the weather for us and we got a fantastic day about 20 degrees with bright sunshine and blue skies, more like a spring day than the middle of winter and I couldn’t have been happier. An afternoon at Cataract Gorge with the Kids, Launceston – Travelling with Kids

The kids and I arrived in the Friday morning on the Spirit of Tasmania, Craig wasn’t flying in until that night so I wanted something to do with the kids that was local and not too far to go. I had been to Cataract Gorge before and thought that would be a great option to keep the kids busy for a few hours. While in Launceston we stayed at Swamp Cottage which is not far at all Cataract Gorge.

Unfortunately we chose the worst day to go to one of the most beautiful places in Tasmania,  Cradle Mountain, but luckily it does not take away from the beauty of the place. Cradle Mountain with kids is amazing, a prefect place for them to explore and get out and get dirty. (more…)

Over the June school holidays we took the Spirit of Tasmania for a quick winter break. The ship docked at 6am and we were off soon after 6.30am. Otway Fly Treetop Adventures- Family Travel Blog – Travelling with Kids

Over our June long weekend we took the kids to Apollo Bay located along the iconic Great Ocean Road about 2.5 hours from Melbourne. The Otway Fly Treetop Adventure is 40kms from Apollo Bay and that took about 40mins because its a very windy road, so if you’re a person that gets a motion sickness you might struggle a bit! I had a couple of moments! Luckily enough it doesn’t seem to bother my kids.  (more…)

Koalas of the Great Ocean Rd- Travelling with Kids – Family Travel Blog

Now who doesn’t love koalas, Australia’s famous little cuddly looking bears. We spent the long weekend at Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Rd and when we visited the Cape Otway National Park, driving through the eucalyptus trees you could see the koalas in the trees. People had pulled over to the side of the road all the way down into the Cape Otway Lighthouse. We stopped and jumped out with the kids so that they could have a look at koalas in their natural habitat. (more…)
