Over our June long weekend we took the kids to Apollo Bay located along the iconic Great Ocean Road about 2.5 hours from Melbourne. The Otway Fly Treetop Adventure is 40kms from Apollo Bay and that took about 40mins because its a very windy road, so if you’re a person that gets a motion sickness you might struggle a bit! I had a couple of moments! Luckily enough it doesn’t seem to bother my kids.
Now who doesn’t love koalas, Australia’s famous little cuddly looking bears. We spent the long weekend at Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Rd and when we visited the Cape Otway National Park, driving through the eucalyptus trees you could see the koalas in the trees. People had pulled over to the side of the road all the way down into the Cape Otway Lighthouse. We stopped and jumped out with the kids so that they could have a look at koalas in their natural habitat.
I just walked in the door, unpacked and put a load of washing on and thought it a good time to fill you in on our long weekend. We headed off down the Great Ocean Rd for 3 days, even though it was winter I thought it was still as good a time as any for a visit. Nothing like taking an independent Great Ocean Road tour and stop when you like and stay for as long as you like.
