I’ve lived in Melbourne most of my life and I remember visiting Luna Park as a child. Luna Park is a favourite of a lot of Melbournians with it’s distinctive ‘Mr Moon face’ entrance in one of the most prominent locations, beach front at our famous inner city suburb St Kilda.
For the fourth year in a row Melbourne has hosted White Night, a now annual event that is also held in 13 other locations around the world including Paris, London, Tel Aviv, Chicago and Montreal to name a few. White Night Melbourne it is held around the end of February for one Saturday night from 7pm until 7am.
So here’s the thing, I’m getting old and I’m not in the loop anymore! I had a night in town a couple of weeks ago with a friend. We were going to have dinner and then go out on the town, problem was neither of us could name a place that attracts our ‘age group’.
Last weekend Craig and I joined 70,000 others at Etihad Stadium for the Foo Fighters concert here in Melbourne. We’d palmed the kids off for the night so we thought we’d make a night of it and book a hotel in town. The Holiday Inn Hotel Melbourne is in a great location on Spencer St and a short walk to the stadium for the concert.
Melbourne is a great city to visit whether it be for a weekend or for a week, there’s plenty to keep you busy. I recently had friends come and stay who have never been to Melbourne before. This of course, put me in my element, tour guide for the day in my home town. Melbourne is an awesome city but unfortunately I only had one day to sell it to them! Sally’s top things to do in Melbourne with kids of all ages!
Well it finally happened, after years of procrastinating I went and jumped out of a plane! Thanks to Skydive Great Ocean Road for the amazing experience.
Last month Craig and I and a few friends, went to one of the twilight concerts that are held at the Melbourne Zoo, lovingly known as Zoo twilights! They are held on the lawns near the rotunda closer to the rear entrance. On this occasion we saw Bernard Fanning, there are various others playing over the summer season on selected dates including James Reyne, Sarah Blasko, Paul Kelly, Spiderbait, Village People & The Cat Empire.
I was very surprised to receive a Liebster Award from Erika at Ever-changing Life of a Mum. I had seen her blog pop up a couple of times recently but with getting ready to return to school this week I haven’t had a lot of time to read other blogs, concentrating on writing and posting my own. I have since learnt that Erika is a local (Melbourne based) mum with an awesome post about getting rid of head lice! A post I will no doubt have to refer too again, around about…
Last year I decided I needed a new tennis buddy, Craig isn’t really interested unless they’re corporate tickets and most of my friends aren’t that into tennis to spend their money on going. So I made the decision last year to take Alannah for the first time when she was only 9 years old. She loved it and wanted to return this year. Awesome, new tennis buddy for mum! Australian Open Melbourne is one of the worlds best run world sporting events and you can really see why.
Yesterday my family and I took my sister and her husband on a winery tour on the Bellarine Peninsula, about 30mins from Geelong, Victoria’s second biggest city and the gateway to the popular Great Ocean Road.
