There is so much history to explore in Washington but I was concerned there wouldn’t be enough interesting things to do in Washington DC with kids, how wrong was I! We considered many cities in the USA for our white Christmas experience and we finally settled on Boston for a number of reasons. I knew there was plenty of things to do in Boston with kids and it suited my itinerary considering I wanted to be in New York City for New Years Eve. When I finally decided that Boston was going to be the city for our white Christmas my focus turned to finding the best place to stay in Boston for families. I had expected hotel accommodation over Christmas would be costly and I wasn’t wrong. San Francisco was the first and last stop on out 7 week trip to the USA for a much anticipated white Christmas. I compiled this list of our top 7 things to do in San Francisco with kids so you will have an idea of what to do when planning your trip. San Francisco provided us with our first impressions of the USA and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
New York City is electric any time of year but I have to admit I was a little concerned about visiting at New Year, the main reason being the weather. So many people told me I was crazy, you’ll get snowed in, you’ll get stuck there, you won’t be able to do anything. People came out of the woodwork everywhere to poo poo the idea. Visiting the Grand Canyon with kids was not all I had hoped it would be. While Craig and I were super excited about visiting the Grand Canyon, we soon found that the kids got bored quickly. They didn’t really appreciate a whooping great big hole in the ground and while we could have walked around there all day long taking in the different and changing colours with the movement of the sun, it wasn’t their idea of fun. Disney MaxPass is the new kid on the block. They were introduced to Disneyland Parks about June 2017 and have quickly caught on. You operate your Disneyland MaxPass through the Disneyland App and it’s very efficient, we used it on our recent visit to Disneyland Los Angeles. (more…)
Alcatraz is the most popular attraction for tourists visiting San Francisco, Craig being the history buff in the family said from the outset that he wanted Alcatraz on the itinerary. I was a little concerned to visit Alcatraz with the kids as I wasn’t sure it would be appropriate for them. I am happy to report it was more than suitable for the kids and they really enjoyed it, especially the Alcatraz ferry across to the island. (more…)
Knott’s Berry Farm dates back to 1920’s when it was a family owned farm that sold berries, homemade berry preserves and pies on the roadside. Later in 1934, a tea room was created and they started selling fried chicken dinners. Soon after Mrs Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant was established.
